Recommended 7-way Connector To Bypass Current Trailer Wiring harness On 1990 Ford F-250

Question:

I have an existing harness that was wired for a gooseneck stock trailer. This harness has issues. I want to abandon that harness, and replace it with a new harness that will reach the bumper of the pickup. Many of the harnesses listed are 7, and I know they wont reach the bumper. Many of the harnesses plug in to an existing wiring harness. I want a new harness that runs from the battery, to the bumper. I am not sure which one would suit me best. Can you help me pick one out that will run from the battery to the bumper? Thank you

It sounds like you are wanting a new 7-way connector on your 1990 Ford F-250 that bypasses all of your current wiring.

To do that I recommend starting with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118316 which is confirmed to fit your 1990 Ford F-250 and will give you all of the lighting functions needed for your trailer.

Now for a 7-way connector you will need the # ETBC7 which will plug into your new 4-way connector and just require a few more connections. The black wire will get run to the battery of your truck with the included 40 amp circuit breaker, the white wire will get grounded to the frame of your truck, and the blue wire will get run to the brake output wire on your trailer brake controller.

This will give you a fully functional 7-way/4-way connector combination for towing a trailer that bypasses all of your current trailer wiring harness.

Lastly to mount this connector to your vehicle you will want to use the no drill mounting bracket # 18140 which will bolt to your trailer hitch receiver.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
