Question:
I have a 2020 Ford Escape SE which is already wired for 4 pin flat, and, I have an Aliner trailer with 7 pin. I bought the Tekonsha wireless brake controller, but need to provide power to it. Can one tap 12V @ 20amps from the cigarette plug in the back? Or, must one wire power from the front? The local Ford Dealer is saying it just cant be done. Luckily, in my state, a trailer this small does not require brakes, still, Id like to use them.

You'll want to use our wireless brake controller install kit, part # ETBC7L, which includes the 4 pole to 7-way adapter, and the wire, hardware and circuit breaker needed to make the 12V power connection. You'll want to draw the power directly from the vehicle battery, not from the 12V outlet in the cargo area. Drawing power directly from the battery provides a more reliable power source, and helps keeps the vehicle's wiring isolated from the trailer's to protect from short circuits.
I've linked you to a video explaining how the install kit works.
