Question:
Can I flat tow a 2007 Honda Fit w/ auto trans behind a MH? I already have a Blue OX Aventa tow bar from an earlier set up. What would you recommend for the base plate? Thanks for your kind help.

In order to determine if your 2007 Honda Fit can be flat towed behind a motor home you will want to consult the vehicle owners manual. Since you have an automatic transmission you will need to use base plates # 521558-1. Blue Ox does not have a base plate kit for the automatic transmission models. You can still use your Aventa tow bar by using adapter # BX88178.
If you need safety cables, use # RM-643. For a lighting solution I recommend kit # 154-792-118158.
Most states now require a supplemental baring system on the vehicle being flat towed. I recommend the easy to set up Patriot, # BRK2019 proportional system. It applies the Fits brakes in proportion to how much the motor home is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
I have included some helpful links on flat towing for you. remember that the first step should be consulting the Fit owners manual.
