Installation Of Safety Cables and Excess Slack
Question:
I recently purchased your combo towing kit RM-9243-1. It contains your hybridinch safety cables. I think the cables are actually longer than I need, are these the same cables you offer separately as 80inch hybrid cables? If so I probably only need the 64inch straight cables. Since I have the coiled cables now I would like to know if you consider coiling the excess around the tow bar shank as I have done in the attached photo to be acceptable. I have done it only to clean up the look of the area and if it is not safe or acceptable I would not tow with it like that. Thank you, Ken Faust

The Safety Cables contained within the RoadMaster Falcon 2 and Falcon All-Terrain Combo Towing Kit, # RM-9243-1, are okay to install the way you have. While most folks wrap the excess around the legs of the the tow bar, there is no reason that you can not do so around the shank as well. The point to remember is that you leave enough slack at the end so as to not cause a binding situation, plenty of free movement. And that you do not create a pinch point situation that will damage the cables.
