Is It Better To Replace 12 x 2 Trailer Brake Shoes Or Replace The Entire Assembly?

Question:

What is the difference between this part T4798400 and T4807700? Are both the brake shoe replacements and are they both one wheel only or is one two wheels? I have a triple axle trailer with 7000 lb axles and need to replace the brakes. if the shoes only are al ot per wheel wouldnt it be better to replace the entire kit and get all new backing plate, servo, springs and shoes for about the same cost?

The difference between the Titan Replacement Brake Shoes # T4798400 and # T4807700 is which brake assemblies the kits fit on.

The # T4798400 fits brake assemblies # T4489600-500 where the # T4807700 fits discontinued braking assemblies T4203000.

Both of the kits are per wheel and in general there is not a large cost difference between the replacement shoes and complete replacement braking assemblies.

Due to that we recommend going ahead and replacing the entire braking assemblies using the # AKFBBRK-7 which are rated for use on your 7000lb axles.

I included a video of the # AKFBBRK-7 for you to take a look at.
