In order to properly weigh your door to figure out the correct spring you only need to find the weight when the ramp door is down. You do not need to remove the door to find this weight.
You will need a scale in order to measure the weight, a bathroom scale will do. Place a block of wood or other durable material on the scale and rest the end of your ramp on the block. This will give you the weight of your door. Don't forget to subtract out the weight of the block for a more accurate measurement.
Ideally you want the weight to be close to the rating of the spring. The Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 7' Wide Enclosed Trailer - Single Spring # 362SA7 has a capacity of 150 lbs. That doesn't mean you can't use it if you find your ramp weighs 155 lbs. If the door weighs more than the ramp it will still provide assistance when closing it. If the door weighs less than the rating of the spring, you will experience some resistance when lowering it.
