Recommended Hitch for a Bike Rack On a 2020 BMW X5

If you are just going to be using the hitch with a bike rack, I suggest going with the Draw-Tite # 76288. This is rated up to 720 pounds of tongue weight and 7,200 pounds towing if needed. The 2 inch receiver opening will also allow for just about any bike rack as well.

If you do not already have a bike rack, we definitely have some options available. With that being said, I included a couple options for platform style racks for you check out.

First will be the RockyMounts WestSlope Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # RKY10222. One of the big pluses for this rack is that it fits most bikes regardless of frame design, suspension, or brake style due to how it holds the tire instead of the frame. However, if your bikes have fenders, this same mechanism becomes a drawback as they will interfere with each other.

If you have more than 2 bikes you need to carry, the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HR4000 will carry up to 4 bikes. This will clamp to the frame of the bikes so it wont interfere with fenders. Though this is a sturdy steel construction, it actually only weights about 5 more pounds than the # RKY10222.
