How to Keep Bolts on Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061 From Backing Off

I have a hitch quiet that I bought from you for my 2009 Chevy Silverdo that keeps loosening up after every trip.Tried locktite, but it didnt help.Is there a heavier duty U bolt available???

To keep the u-bolt nuts of the # RM-061 from loosening, make sure you are using both nuts (the primary and the jamb nut) on both sides of the u-bolt.

When installing the Quiet Hitch, snug down the first nut on each side then run down the second nut. Using two wrenches working against each other, tighten the outer nut while trying to loosen the inner bolt. This will effectively lock the inner and outer bolt together, preventing them from loosening.

The # RM-061 is the only anti-rattle device of its type offered by Roadmaster. I am confident that if you install the item as described above, you should have no further problem. Also keep in mind that this device should not be used when towing. It was not designed to support the tongue weight of the trailer. If it is loosening when you are towing, that could explain why the nuts back out after each trip.
