What Size Boats Require the Tongue Extension for Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer
Question:
Eventually we will purchase a Yakima RnR trailer. Our kayaks are 16 1/2 ftnot 17, but over 16. Will we need the extender? Thanks!

I do recommend adding the Tongue Extension Kit for Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08109 when carrying boats over 16 feet long with a Yakima Rack N Roll Trailer # Y08107 since it will prevent the boats from contacting the back of your vehicle while turning. It likely isn't going to be completely necessary since it's only about 6 inches of difference and you could likely just slide the boats back 6 inches, but adding the extension ensures there's no contact with the vehicle when making a turn.
