I just bought a 2016 Palomino Sabre 5th wheel from a private party. It came with a brand new Curt A20 hitch with legs for a GMC below bed puck system. I have a 2019 Ram 2500 Laramie Megacab 6 1/2foot bed I would like to use the A20 but am concerned about slow speed tight turns. I think I need to add the R20 slider but I also need to change the GMC legs for my Ram which also has the factory prep puck system What all do I need to accomplish this? Will it work well for me? BTW my Ram has the Ramboxes - does that make a difference?

Since you have the RamBox on your 2019 Ram 2500 you will have to go in a different direction than what would traditional be done on a truck with a short bed. This is due to the shorter distance that you have between your bed rails.

On your 2016 Palomino Sabre you will need to install a Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin # RP34FR. This changes your pivot point on your 5th wheel hitch from the hitch to pin box mount itself. The reason you need this is so that your pin box does not contact your bed rails and cause damage to your Ram or Sabre. It does appear that your Sabre will either have a standard 1621 Pin box or a similar mounting pattern Lippert Trailair Rota-Flex 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC328329. You can confirm that your pin box uses these same mounting holes that I have included in the picture to ensure the Sidewinder will install properly. If you have any different measurements please let me know so we can get you the correct pin box.

To install the Curt A20 Hitch Head # C16540 that you have you will need the Curt OEM 5th Wheel Hitch Legs # C16021 that fit your Ram. You will not want the slider base as the Sidewinder will move your pivot point back 22" providing you with adequate clearance when turning. You will need the Sidewinder Wedge Kit # RP64FR as it is specific to your A20 head to hold the Sidewinder in place at the hitch head.
