Question:
In your Demco example of what the clearance needs to be, your example is that X must be less than 4.6 x Y. You give Y as 6 inch and therefore 6X4.6 is 27.6 inch but then you say X must be less than 21. Why not X must be less than 27.6? Im trying to find a trailer that will work with a Hyndai Ionic. Low clearance

You are correct, that is confusing, and the example you are specifying should have read 27.6. The accurate way to determine clearance is with the cut out I added below for the Demco tow dollies:
- Demco Kar Kaddy SS Tow Dolly with Disc Brakes # DM9713045
- Demco Kar Kaddy X Tow Dolly with Disc Brakes # DM9713093
So in this example from the instructions for the SS, you can see, "X" should be less than 21.5. For your Hyundai Ioniq, you'll want to measure "X" as the distance from where the tire touches the ground to the front-most portion of the lower fascia. The "Y" measurement should be from the front-most portion of the lower fascia to the ground.
Then just take the "Y" measurement and multiply it by 4.3, and whatever that number is needs to be LESS than the "X" measurement.
