The trailer wiring harness you reviewed, Tow Ready T-One # 118329, is a plug-in no-splicing trailer wiring harness that is intended for connection to the existing wiring in your 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 to provide a flat 4-pole trailer connector.

The video link provided demonstrates the installation process. The left and right side T-connectors in this harness plug in between the tail light wiring connectors located underneath the vehicle. The connector with the yellow wire is for the driver side and the connector with the green wire is for the passenger side. According to Dodge, if the trailer is equipped with more than standard lighting (more than 1 taillight per side), use of a ModuLite® Converter or dealer supplied harness is required to avoid overloading the vehicle wiring.

If you are installing a different harness that is not plug-in and requires hard-wiring, and the wire colors on your vehicle do not match the wire colors of your trailer harness, you will need a circuit tester to confirm the functions of each vehicle wire. You can use a tester such as # PTW2993 to identify the function carried on each vehicle wire.

With a helper to activate each lighting function on your Ram, remove each tail light assembly and apply the tester to each wire one at a time. Engage the brake, tail and turn lights one at a time until you have found the wire that carries each of those functions. Then splice those wires as follows: the wire that carries the tail light signal connects to the brown wire on the 4-pole harness; the wire that carries the right turn signal connects to the green wire; the wire that carries the left turn signal connects to the yellow wire on the 4-pole. The white ground wire on the 4-pole connects to a clean unpainted metal surface.

I have linked two articles concerning trailer wiring installation and troubleshooting that might be useful to you.
