Recommended Blue Ox Flat Tow Setup For Towing 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Behind Motorhome

Question:

I am wanting to flat tow my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. On the last vehicle I had I used Blue ox products and would prefer to use them again. Can you recommend a complete flat towing setup for me?

I sure can!

For your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited you will need to start with the Blue ox Base Plate Kit # BX1139 which will fit as long as you have the factory plastic bumper. This kit has removeable arms so when you are not flat towing you can make the kit blend in pretty well to the front of your Jeep.

Next for a compatible tow bar I recommend the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7380 as it has a 6,500lb towing capacity which is perfect for your Wrangler Unlimited, and the non-binding arms allow you to quickly and easily unhook the tow bar even when you are parked on uneven ground. This tow bar includes safety cables so you do not need to purchase them separately.

Moving on to the tow bar wiring I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will add a 6-way connector to the front of your Jeep, and the included 7-way to 6-way cord will allow you to plug into both the 7-way connector on your motorhome and the 6-way connector on the front of your Jeep. The included diodes do great at protecting your factory wiring from backfeed or other damage.

Next for a supplemental braking system I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR as it is very easy to install, and since it gets completely removed from your vehicle when you are done flat towing you can use it in multiple vehicles if desired. To get this installed in your Jeep you will also need the 12v outlet kit # RM-9332.

Lastly you will likely need a high-low adapter to level your tow bar to your tow vehicle so I have included a link to a helpful article that goes over measuring for the correct adapter, and a link to our selection of adapters for you to look through.

It is always a good idea to check the recreational towing section of your vehicles owner's manual for flat towing restrictions or special steps required to make your vehicle ready to be flat towed.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
