No Trailer Brake Controller Plug Under Dash On 2018 Toyota Tundra
Question:
I bought a curt tri-flex and a curt plug 51455 for my 2018 tundra sr5 trd sport, came factory with the trailer brake, took off all the under dash unplugged the factory trailer brake and it has a small little micro wire plug with 16 plug connector, the curt 51455 plug is a huge 10 plug connector, I tried every YouTube video and even called here for assistance but everyone says the plug is right behind the factory unit maybe mine is different? Even the factory foam covered plug isn’t correct, I looked all under the dash and kick panel and there isn’t an available plug

The 2018 Toyota Tundra was a bit of an oddity as there are several reported instances of models not coming equipped with the factory trailer brake controller plug under the dash for use with an aftermarket brake controller as the years before did. There are also some 2018 models that do indeed have this and it seems to be hit or miss. I don't have an answer to why that is but I do have a solution for you to install any aftermarket trailer brake controller like the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV. In order to do this you will need to run your own wires which is outlined in the attached help article below.
