Is 7K or 8K Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks Better for 7K Axles

Question:

Have 2018 Vilano 5th wheel, would like to upgrade suspension with Roadmaster slipper springs and shocks. You offer 7K and 8 K kits with 3” axle. We have 3” axle and 7K now. I see other owners have gone to 8K spring. Do you feel this is too aggressive?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Between the 7K # RM-2460-2570 and 8K # RM-2460-2580 Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks I recommend going with the 7K for your 2018 Vilano 5th wheel. It will give you the best ride possible since it's designed to work with your exact axle weight rating.

Would the 8K system work for your application? Yes, but I do believe the ride will be a little more aggressive than what is necessary.

Appreciate your answer, thank you. Some concerns on going little more capacity was Vilano suspension appears to have many issues. I pull a 15’ Polaris trailer behind the 5th wheel and thinking about compensate for that extra weight.

I have a 2019 39' dutchman voltage 5th wheel toy hauler running 7k double axles. We travel full time and i am always at maxe weight. I am thinking the 8K # RM-2460-2580 would provide a bit more support since we are about 16k when rolling vs. the 7K # RM-2460-2570 and Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks. Would 8k be a better choice in my setup?
