Question:
I have a King trailer with surge brakes for my Bayliner that is 9000#. I like this with the 2000# tongue weight. Will my surge brakes work with this item? Thanks

Which weight distribution system were you planning on using?
Chain-suspended type weight distribution systems don't work with surge couplers, because the tension on the chains inhibits the movement of the actuator making the brakes less effective.
If you're using a system where the spring bars contact brackets that attach to the trailer frame like # EQ37140ET or the Blue Ox TrackPro # BLU27FR that don't use chains, the system along with a pole tongue adapter like the # BXW4023 you'd looked at would work perfectly with your surge brake coupler.
