Base Plate and Flat Tow Set-up for 1999 Chevrolet Suburban

Question:

Looking for options for my early 1999 k1500 suburban. I have a blue ox 7365 tow bar with the pins that screw into base plates. I need base plates. My tow hooks bolt to the bottom of the frame. I’m a good diy guy with tools and welder. Do you have anything to fit my needs? E98961 possibly?

We have several options of base plates for your 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, my suggestion is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1635 as this is designed to mate to Blue Ox tow bars.

For lighting there are several options. If you will not be towing often then I recommend a magnetic kit like # RM-2120. If you will be towing often then a more permanent solution like # RM-154 would be the way to go.

For supplemental braking I suggest the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional, # HM39524. The Brake Buddy Select 3 is a proportional braking system that applies your towed car's brakes with an intensity that matches your RV's braking action.

Question:

Michael answered me with baseplate #1635 for my 1999 suburban. Could you give me the other options he mentioned. The delivery date is out and I’d like to get this done earlier if it’s feasible. Even if I have to do some fabricating. Thanks again

Certainly, I suggested the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1635 as this is designed to mate to the Blue Ox tow bars you said you already have. But there is also the option of Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1682 and # BX1640.

There are other options from Demco and Roadmaster but will require use of an additional adapter to use with a Blue Ox tow bar. Note the help link below for those options if needed. But I suggest you consider the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1682 first.
