Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2020 Ram 2500 Short Bed with OEM Prep Package

howdy, I am looking at this fifth wheel hitch, CURT 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch, Custom Install Kit with Below Bed Rails. I will be using a 2020 Ram 2500 with the puck system. I will be pulling a 2022 Grand Design Reflection 278BH. There are 2 hitches that all appear to be the same and I am trying to figure out which one is best for my set up. Thanks

You mention two hitches that look to be the same for your 2020 Ram 2500 short bed with OEM Prep package and then ask about the Curt Q20 # C16536, so the other hitch you are most likely talking about is the Curt A20 # C16541. These two hitches will actually use the same sliding base, the difference will come from the hitch head and the warranty. The Q20 pivots 360 degrees using a spherical axial bearing. This creates smoother rotation of the head and therefore a smoother ride between the truck and trailer. The other difference is the warranty. The A20 has a limited lifetime warranty on the hitch with a 10-year warranty on the roller. The Q20's warranty is a 10 -year limited warranty for both. With either the Q20 # C16536 or the A20 # C16541 you will need to use the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider # C16022 which will attach to the puck system in your truck and then provide the attachment points for the Q20 or A20 hitch.

The hitch that I recommend and think will be best for your set-up is actually going to be the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3670. The reason that I like this hitch for your set-up is because the B&W does not require you to use an adapter rail. The hitch itself will drop into the puck system in your truck, instead of having to use an adapter rail and the hitch. There are a couple of reasons this is beneficial for you. The first is that you will not have to buy and use two parts to do one job. The second and most important part is that the adapter rail needed for the Q20 or A20 is going to add 4" of height to your hitch set-up. Often times when people have issues with their 5th wheel set-up it is because the hitch sits too high, and that is most common in Ram trucks which is why I recommend going with the B&W # BWRVK3670 that does not require you to use an adapter. The warranty on the B&W is a limited lifetime warranty.
