Differences Between Curt and Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitches for 2022 Ford Escape

I can't decide between the Curt C23FR and Draw-Tite DT95MR Class III hitch for my 2022 Ford Escape. What's the difference between the two?

Expert Reply:

The Curt # C23FR and Draw-Tite # DT95MR both fit the 2022 Ford Escape, the Draw-Tite fits all models and the Curt fits all but the PHEV model.

The Curt hitch is a bit easier to install, Curt estimates a professional should need about 30 minutes to complete the installation, while Draw-Tite says their hitch will take about twice that. The Draw-Tite has a higher towing and tongue weight capacity, but the capacity would be limited to the maximum 3500 lb towing capacity of the vehicle (dependent on how the vehicle is equipped) so you wouldn't be able to take advantage of the 4500 lb tow rating of the Draw-Tite hitch.

I'd personally go with the Curt # C23FR hitch, because it's manufactured in the US.

If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness like # TE54FR, a ball mount like # D-28, a hitch pin like # PC3 and # 19261 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch trailer ball.

I've linked to install videos for the hitch and wiring harness I recommended.
