7-Way Connector for a 1991 Ford Van

Hi there - I have a round 4 pin female trailer connector on my 1991 econoline van and I need it to connect to my 7 pin male connector on my trailer. So I’m other words I need an adapter with a female 7 pin on one side and a male 4 pin round in the other side. Does this exist or can it be made?

I have a solution for you but there is nothing that can adapt a 4 round vehicle connector to work with a 7-way trailer connector. I recommend replacing the 4-round connector on your 1991 Ford Van with a 4-Pole Hardwire Kit with Circuit Tester item # 18252. This will provide your van with a 4 flat that you can use to install the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires item # ETBC7. This kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your van with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it. These two wiring harnesses will provide your van with a fully functional 7-way connector that will allow you to control your trailer's lights and brakes.

To control your trailer's brakes you will need a brake controller. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90195 is a proportional brake controller that would work well with your setup.
