Blue Ox Base Plates for Flat Towing a 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup

does the base plate come with the arms if not how much for the removeable arms

Expert Reply:

Yes, the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms, # BX1989 comes complete with the needed arms for your 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup. The sturdy lugs mate to a Blue Ox tow bars or are adaptable to Roadmaster tow-bars using # RM-031 or # RM-031-5, sold separately. Or to Demco tow bars using the # BX88310.

If you do not already have a tow bar, I suggest using the Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar, # BX7420. The non-binding latches make it easy to disconnect no matter the angle or terrain and it folds up neatly against your RV for easy storage. This also comes with the needed safety cables.

For a wiring solution, to match your towed vehicles indicator lights to that of your motorhome, I suggest the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-152-98146-7. This complete kit includes everything you need to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your towed car. Diodes prevent feedback and wire your car to operate as a combined system. Includes a 7-way to 6-way straight adapter cord. Install the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-88400 too. This relay works with your tow bar wiring system to ensure that your towed vehicle's turn signal lights flash in tandem with your RV's lights.

For a supplemental braking solution that is required by law, ,I suggest the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System, # RM-9400. This portable, easy-to-adjust braking system uses an inertia sensor in the towed car to detect deceleration. The unit presses brake pedal in towed car to activate brakes with an intensity that matches deceleration and a breakaway and LCD monitor is included.

You may also need a high-low adapter in order to keep your tow bar level, I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter, as well as a link to our selection of adapters. Please note the linked help articles, product review and installation videos linked below.
