Question:
Hello, Im purchasing a truck camper and I was wondering if I need to purchase a new hitch to go with an extender, or just the extender alone to out in my stock hitch. I have a 2018 Ram 3500 SRW Megacab. I dont have the camper yet to measure exactly, but I would imagine I will need 24-36 extension. We are looking to purchase a Lance 855S model. We will likely be towing a max of 5,000 lbs. behind the truck camper.

It's not required for all trailers but in order to achieve a higher weight capacity when using an extension you'll need to use the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver part # TLD1108-30 with TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension like part # TLE1524 or part # TLE1536.
If you just need to do light-duty towing you can get away with something like the Titan Hitch Box Extension part # RP45292 but the above is still a better, safer setup.
