How Do I Install A Brake Controller On My 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited With The Factory Tow Package?

Question:

I just traded up to a 2022 Wrangler Unlimited that came with the factory towing package and want to get the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite brake controller installed in it. What all do I need and is this a difficult install?

Having the factory towing package on your 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will actually make life a lot easier. You will need a couple parts to get the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite up and running, but it's easier than you think. The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite is also a controller I recommend a lot as it will have one of the cleanest looks once install, if not the most. It also works very well and is the controller I would put in my Silverado if I ever needed one. With that said, all you need is some wiring,

First, the Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter # 3073-P will plug directly into a port under your dash. Technically, this is a different brand of wiring, but Tekonsha and Redarc worked together to make the Tow-Pro Wiring Adapter # 331-TPH-017 to fit between these pigtails and the brake controllers that will mate them together. Once these are all snapped together, all you need to do is plug it into the back of the controller and figure out where you want to mount the knob. It really is that easy.

I am doing the same install, but there is no power to the controller. Is there a fuse or relay I need to install?

@Roger IF you have the towing package and used the # 3073-P, then I would assume it is indeed a fuse/relay that either needs to be replaced or installed. You will want to check spot F36 in the fuse box under your hood. It will be a pink 30 amp cartridge style fuse. If replacing that doesn't fix the issue, you will want to test the continuity of the # 3037-P to make sure power is running through it. If you are getting power through that properly, you will need to see if the controller is bad. This is pretty unlikely as Tekonsha makes quality products. Easiest way to do this is plug it into another truck/vehicle and see if it works. Odds are it's the fuse though.
