Roof Rack Recommendation For 2014 Ford F-150 SuperCrew For Carrying Canoe
Question:
Canoe Rack on my F-150. I have a 2014 F-150 SuperCrew and I’m looking for a black rack system to help transport it around the state. I was looking at the Yakima Baseline with the LongArm or the Rhino Rack, same kind of setup. Any recommendations on other setups or specific part numbers I should be mindful of while shopping? Thanks for any insight you have to offer.

There is one option for a roof rack for your 2014 Ford F-150 SuperCrew that I think is the best option, which is from Rhino-Rack. You mentioned them and Yakima, but the reason I recommend Rhino-Rack is because it offers you the best value for a rack on your F-150. You aren't losing out on quality with Rhino-Rack, you simply aren't paying for a certain name on the crossbars. Here is exactly what you will need for your '14 F-150 SuperCrew to install the Rhino-Rack roof rack:
- Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA150B-2
- Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA
- Custom DK Fit Kit # DK150
This will allow you to use an extender such as the Yakima LongArm # Y01149, but a canoe carrier that fits directly on your roof is going to be an easier way to carry the canoe, and you can do that with the Thule Portage Canoe Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - Gunwale Brackets - Side Loading # TH819.
This is easier than mounting your canoe on the roof rack and using an extender because the Portage # TH819 is all that is needed to mount the canoe as opposed to a more cumbersome hitch extender. Just mount your canoe on the carrier, tie it down with the included straps and you're set.
