Can I Weld on a Bolt on Brake Actuator?
Question:
Replacing Atwood weld in actuator on A frame style trailer w/ 4 side channel. In question #537386 mine looks identical to that customers, down to the blue color, your rep Samual C recommends a Dexter weld on. My question is: Welding this in would block the back pin to remove the inner slide. If i raise it above the top of the channel to expose the pins, it leaves little welding surface unless maybe I add a plate to extend the bottom lower. I notice that the Dexter bolt in model extends lower at the bottom. Can i just weld in that model and use that lower portion for more weld surface? Or do you have ideas on how to weld this in prior to purchase **which roughly keeps my original tongue length**. Lastly it would be great to have the dimensions of the outer housings currently i only know the length.

Yes, you can weld on the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7.5K item # DX56FR you referenced. You will want to make sure you remove the zinc coating and get down to the bare metal.
I have attached a couple of diagrams I made with the dimensions on both actuators.
