Is a Different Size Trailer Tire Usable as a Spare for Emergency Use
Question:
Im looking for a spare tire for my tear trailer. My trailer currently has 195/75R14 tires on it. They are just passenger tires since my trailer is a really small custom trailer. The dry weight of the trailer is just over 1060 lbs. It seems like the most common spare size would be 205/75R14. Would there be any issues using this size tire as a spare? I understand that there is about a 15mm or half inch difference in the height and a 10 mm difference in the width, but I would only be using this in a emergency situation to get to a tire shop. Is the difference in the size negligible for this use?

It would be fine to use the Provider ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 14" White Spoke Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR C
Item # TTWA14RWS as a spare in case of an emergency to get you home or to a tire shop. You are correct, there will be a slight difference in diameter and width when compared to your current 195/75R14 tires.
Ideally you want a tire that is the same size as a spare, especially if you think you are traveling long distances. Using a different size for more than a short distance in an emergency will cause uneven wear on your other tires. It may also cause the trailer to not track behind your tow vehicle as well which could result in suspension issues.
