Replacement Dome for Fan-Tastic Vent RV Roof Vents

Hello, A couple of months ago, a severe windgust broke off the standard cover of the Fantastic Fan on my94 Airstream Excella. It was a heck of a blow, as it also snapped a 100foot maple tree in my yard, at 30foot off the ground. Since the weather at that time was so inclement, I temporarily covered the hole, and so now its time to repair the damage. Would it be feasible to skip replacing the cover dome Replacement Dome for Fan-Tastic Vent RV Roof Vents # FVK1020-19, and just install an Ultra Breeze Coverinch manufactured by Fantastic? On the inside, I would make an insulation panel that would be held on by Velcro strips. Would the Utrabreeze cover be stormproof, considering that the exterior vent flange would still be in place to divert water from the opening?

Having a trailer roof vent cover such as the Ultra Breeze, # FVU1400GRS is good thing. I prefer a cover of this design over all vents with hinged lids not matter the manufacturer, the added protection of redirecting water is worth the investment. But to use this only in place of a vent cover such as the Replacement Dome for Fan-Tastic Vent RV Roof Vents, # FVK1020-19 is something I advise against. I think it best to have each in place but if only one or the other, choose the roof vent cover, # FVK1020-19.
