Setting Up 2008 Honda Ridgeline For Towing Landscape Trailer

The hitch receiver Im considering for my 2008 Ridgeline RTL, the Curt #13385, has a 500 lb tongue weight. Ill be towing my 900+ lb lawn mower on a 1300 lb empty 6.5 ft x 12 foot trailer along with about 200 ib of additional weight for a total weight of no more than 2400 lbs. Do I need to consider the purchase anything else in addition to to #13385 to be able to safely tow the trailer?

The Curt # 13385 Class III hitch would be a great choice for towing your mower.

We typically recommend a weight distribution hitch for trailers that weigh more than half of what the vehicle weighs, but since you're right on that line, and because you have the ability to shift the mower fore or aft of the trailer axle to keep the tongue weight close to the recommended 10% of the trailer weight, you should be fine without weight distribution.

You will also need a trailer wiring harness like # 118400, a ball mount like # 2923 and a trailer ball. For a 1-7/8 inch ball, use # 19260 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.

I've linked to install videos for the hitch and the trailer wiring harness.
