Best Hidden Trailer Hitch, 7-Way & Brake Controller For 2017 Dodge Durango With Factory Tow Package

Question:

Good morning. I just bought a 17 durango R/T with factory tow package but it did not have the hitch or 7 way plug but does have the factory plug behind the bumper. i am looking for a hitch, brake controller and 7-way plug that would be plug n play, we would like to have it hidden within the bumper. 18 inch full size spare I am leaning towards the Redarc Tow-Pro brake controller unless you have others that might fit the vehicle better. For the hitch I would like the max towing. I believe to be 7200 lbs and 900 TW mounted in the factory location. I tow a camper with a max wet weight of 3750lbs and 375tw with brakes and a WDS. thank you

That is great information thanks so much, and we can get your 2017 Dodge Durango R/T with the factory tow package set up with everything you are looking for, from the hitch that is hidden behind your bumper, to the 7-way and also the brake controller. I'll go ahead and list out the parts for you first:

- Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT38MR

- Hopkins 7-and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket # HM40975

- Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR

- Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness # RED77FR

Starting with the hitch, the Draw-Tite is concealed behind your bumper, and you can even put the appearance panel back on when you aren't using it so it won't be noticeable. It will allow you to keep your 18" spare in place, is compatible with a weight distribution system, and has a 7,500 lb towing/900 lb tongue weight capacity with used without weight distribution, and 7,500 lb towing/1,125 lb tongue weight capacity when used with weight distribution.

So the hitch meets all your criteria, and then for the wiring, you will just connect your Durango's round plug into the Hopkins 7-way/4-way. The only thing I recommend, in order to protect the connector from moisture, and increase its durability, is using Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors # 11755.

And for the brake controller, the Redarc Liberty is an excellent choice for a brake controller as it is simple to use and out of sight due to its control knob, which also keeps a big brake controller unit out of the cab of your Durango. It is a plug-and-play controller as well with the adapter, so you won't have to do any tricky wiring.
