Should I Replace The Spindle Or The Axle On My 2009 Fleetwood Pioneer 23FQ Travel Trailer
Question:
Ive bought a 2009 Fleetwood 23 foot FQ with tandem axle. One tire on opposite sides of each tandem axle have heavy wear almost to cords on inside of tire. Reading your threads it sounds like spindles could be bent upwards? perhaps by accident involving previous owner? Would new axles and spindles cure this?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Yes, this could happen with a bent spindle. I recommend replacing the entire axle and not just a spindle. Just replacing the spindle can be problematic because the new spindle will need to be welded EXACTLY straight. The spindle needs to be centered and concentric. It will require a highly trained welder who has the correct jigs and afterward your spindles will have different lifespans.
You can find out what axles you have on your 2009 Fleetwood Pioneer 23FQ by checking your owner's manual or checking the axle itself. Once you have that information you can use the link I included below and the drop down menu to find the correct axle for your travel trailer. You will find the correct bearings in the product description. For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop E-Z Lube Spindles - 95" Long - 3,500 lbs, part # 7685269, is a 3,500 lbs axle that needs inner bearing L68149 and outer bearing L44649.
I have included a product description links, a weblink to our axle selection, and a video demo link of this axle below.
