How do you know when youve put enough grease in to the 1.98inch bearing protectors part e99005? I see theres a spring within the outer wall of the protector, outward of the piston. Do I add grease until the piston moves outwardly, compressing the spring?

Correct, the piston will extend compressing the spring on the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors for 1.98" Hub Bore part # BB1980A which will let you know you have enough grease. There is a built-in relief valve as well if you overfill but this is a failsafe and should not be used as a full indicator.
