Great question, as that is a standard replacement it will be 4-1/2 inches tall when installed and closed. I do have a couple more options you may like.

I recommend the MaxxFan Mini it sits at 4-1/8 inches from the top of the mounted surface it is on. I like this unit because it is self contained and does not open in the standard style, meaning it won't get any taller. If you do decide to replace your unit I will add a link to a roof vent installation kit that includes sealant, butyl tape and screws.

If you don't like that you can use the replacement dome to keep your current set up and be 4-1/2 inches.

The last option, is the low pro ventadome. It is only 2 inches high while closed but it does not come with a fan and is to low to have a fan added to it.
