What makes the Yakima HighRoad incompatible with this roof rack? Other experts say it is compatible.

I reached out to my tech at Yakima and she confirmed that the HighRoad models # Y02114 and # Y75FR are not compatible because part of the rack extends underneath crossbars that interferes with the LockNLoad Platform # Y05047. It requires more space between crossbars to function.
With that being said, there are great bike rack options that are compatible. If you are looking for a very similar wheel-mount style, I recommend the Yakima FrontLoader Wheel Mount Bike Carrier - Roof Mount # Y02103. This rack fits bikes with wheel diameters that measure between 20" - 29". You will also get a 40-pound weight capacity on the rack when using it with the LockNLoad.
