Question:
Question about the Malone EcoLight trailer: says it holds up to a 14 foot boat. Our canoe is 14 foot 6 inch Old Town Saranac. Does this mean it really wont fit, or is there some wiggle room. Sorry if this is a silly question, I am completely new to trailers. thanks

Not a silly question at all, though I verified with Malone that the maximum length of boat is 14 feet for the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer # MAL53FR, so you'd need a different option for your 14-1/2 foot canoe. There are two different trailers that will work for your canoe length:
- Malone MicroSport Trailer # MPG460G
- Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08106
The MicroSport is able to carry a boat up to 20 feet, while the Rack and Roll can carry up to a 16 foot boat. The MicroSport has a 500 lb capacity while the Rack and Roll has a 250 lb capacity, so both will easily be able to handle your Old Town Saranac. The only thing you'd need to add is a canoe carrier for the trailer's crossbars, the Yakima KeelOver Rooftop Canoe Carrier with Tie-Downs # Y04069.
It says "Rooftop Canoe Carrier" because it fits crossbars, but these trailers are what's known as a roof rack on wheels, so this carrier will fit the crossbars of both the Malone and Yakima trailers.
Malone MicroSport Trailer - 78" Crossbars - 800 lbs
Yakima KeelOver Rooftop Canoe Carrier with Tie-Downs - Universal Mount
Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer - 66"
Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer - 58" Crossbars - 400 lbs
