I'm getting a 22 Ford escape' hybrid, what hitch would work best for my rig, a curt or draw tite? I want to tow a smaller trailer around with it.

I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame. Max trailer weight is 4,500 pounds and max tongue weight is 675 pounds. Then use the T-One wire harness to get power to your trailer lights and the etrailer drop ball mount kit to finish off the components you need.
