Bike Rack For Carrying a 48LB Specialized como 4.0 E-Bike With a 2021 Nissan Altima

Im wondering if I would be able to carry a 2021 Specialized como 4.0 step over E-BIke with the Yakima 2 bike holding rack on my 2021 Nissan Altima? You have the bike rack listed as Item # Y02634. The bike is 48 pounds, and your site says it can hold up to 70, total with two bikes. So I figure if I just carry my one E-Bike it would be fine, providing it fits. Also, if its too heavy I thought about taking the battery off the bike, thinking that could reduce the weight. Ive attached a picture of what the bike basically looks like. Please let me know!

Due to the weight of your 2021 Specialized como 4.0 step over E-BIke of 48lbs you will need to use a platform style rack like the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202. The Yakima FullBack 2 Bike Rack # Y02634 only allows for two bikes that weighs 35lbs each. Even by only carrying one bike you would still exceed the single bike weight rating for the rack and its components that hold each bike in place. It also looks like the battery only weighs about 8lbs so that would still not decrease your weight enough to use the Yakima rack.

You will need the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24796 to accept the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202. The receiver will bolt to the subframe on your 2021 Nissan Altima.

The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202 will also make it easier to load your bike as it includes a ramp and will sit lower than a trunk mounted rack. Plus you will not loose access to your trunk when you have your bike loaded. The rack is capable of supporting 2 bikes up to 65lbs each and only weighs 45lbs. It is also much easier to put on and take off than the trunk style carriers.

I do recommend adding the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118731 so that you will be able to use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 with the bike rack. This will ensure that drivers have an unobstructed view of a set of tail lights when you have the bikes loaded.
