Why Self Adjusting Brakes or Manual Adjust Trailer Brakes
Question:
Looking to service the brakes on a camper trailer. The axles are a Dexter HF=85.50 SC=68.50, so Google tells me these are 7000# with 12inch x 2 brake assemblies??? * My wheels are 14inch if it matters. Looking at your parts line up, I see regular and self adjusting options. If these are fully interchangeable options, why would I not want the self adjusting version?? Could you please give me a couple of kit options? Thank you

Expert Reply:
Self-adjusting brake assemblies are the way to go like with the # AKEBRK-7-SA which do fit your 7k Dexter axles. The only real reason to go with manual adjust is really just cost. At one point the self adjusting models were much more expensive but now the cost is close enough that it's an easier choice to go with self adjusting.
