Recommended Skid Wheels For A 32 Keystone Montana 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a 32 foot keystone Montana 5th wheel. I need a way to raise rear end when backing in to steep driveway, however I was looking for skid wheels with a temporary mount, such as large bolts with pins. Want to be able to remove when I am am using on highway without lengthy process of unbolting. I would like a bracket to weld on and then be able to attach skid wheel when needed. I already tore off the bottom of my ladder and the last time I tried the spare tire hit the driveway. Thanks for the input.

The easiest skid wheel we carry to use is the Roadmaster Rollaway Trailer Hitch Protector # RM-050 which simply connects to a trailer hitch with a pin. That being said it doesn't look like your 32' Keystone Montana has a trailer hitch, based on the pictures you provided. If you wanted to add on a hitch there are adjustable trailer hitches like the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # 13703, which can fit a frame width of 22" to 72" wide. You'll just need to measure the distance between your trailer's frame rails to ensure fitment.

The Ultra-Fab Skid Wheels # UF48-979013 you were looking at would need to have the plate welded to the frame of your 5th wheel and be bolted to the mounting plate. You could possibly find a bolt and with a pin hole to easily pull the wheels when not in use at your local hardware store but you'd be putting a whole lot of faith in a small bolt that's going to be taking a lot of force when the wheel hits the ground. Because of this I recommend just using the bolts and going through the process they were designed for.

I also want to note that your pictures are showing the rear stabilizer and that you would not be able to mount these to the stabilizer, they must be mounted directly to the frame of the trailer.
