Tailgate Clearance of RockyMounts RKY11404 SplitRail Bike Rack

I have a 2015 Ram 2500 Long Bed Crew Cab truck and with my current bike rack, it wont fold down far enough to allow the tailgate to fully open when mounted, which is annoying and lead to some scratches on the rack and the tailgate. I am trying to determine if the bike rack will tilt down fair enough with a bike in the closest position to fully open the tail gate. We just want to be able to get to the back of truck bed when needed.

We do have an option that would work for you, but a tilting rack is pretty much designed to allow access to the rear of vehicles with a trunk or liftgate, not necessarily a tailgate on a truck. Due to the rise in the shank provided by the RockyMounts # RKY11404 bike rack, it wouldn't allow you to open the tailgate without contacting the bike rack. Even when tilted, the tailgate would contact a bike placed on the rack. I've provided a photo showing how the rack tilts with a bike installed on it.

I'd recommend a swinging bike rack such as the RockyMounts BackStage, part # RKY10002. Even with bikes installed, the rack can be swung to the passenger side of the vehicle leaving full, unobstructed access to the rear of your truck and allowing the tailgate to open. If you click the provided link, you can see how the BackStage works.
