The etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit, # e86YR is confirmed to fit the 2018 Ford F-150 and will mate to all new etrailer, Demco, and Blue Ox tow bars without the need of an adapter. A complete flat towing setup includes a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, tow bar wiring and a supplemental braking system. My recommendation for a 2018 Ford F-150 is:

- Base Plate, etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit, # e86YR

- Tow Bar, etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar, # e94ZR (This includes the needed safety cables.)

- Wiring Solution, Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles, # HM56009 along with, Brake-Lite Relay Kit, # RM-88400

- supplemental Braking, Brake Buddy Stealth Supplemental Braking System, # HM39530

The etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar, # e94ZR is rated for 10.5K which is more than enough for a 2018 Ford F-150.

What I really like about the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles, # HM56009 is its ease of installation, it's a plug-in harness. There are no wires to be cut and spliced and we have an installation video created of this being installed on a 2018 Ford F-150. Please note the link below.

I've included the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-88400 as this kit is to prevent your brake signal from overriding the turn signal that comes from your motorhome. Installation video for this is linked too.

The Brake Buddy Stealth Supplemental Braking System, # HM39530 is a fixed, semi-permanent installation and has the advantage of being a direct plug in to the recommended wiring harness, # HM56009. The added bonus, the Stealth controller doesn't just work when you're towing a car. It also acts as a proportional trailer brake controller for when you're towing a trailer. Just press the mode control button on the side of the controller to switch from supplemental braking system mode to trailer braking mode.
