Replacement Battery for Hopkins Breakaway Kit 20400
Question:
My Battery is 8 yrs old but still lights green when pushed. However, while driving my dash trailer brake indicator fluctuates down from 6.0 to 3.0. Does this mean battery should be replaced? Do I just buy a replacement or this 20400 model and can I open up the black box? I have a Dodge Ram 3500 diesel dually and a Kingston 2 horse gooseneck trailer.

We do offer a replacement battery for the Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger part # 20400, it's the Breakaway Kit Replacement 12 V Battery part # HM20008. Please note, you'll need to test the battery when detached from the trailer. You can also use a volt meter to test the battery directly.
I am not sure of the exact issue you're describing but I have attached a few help articles below that go over testing the trailer brake controller.
