Question:
I was unable to install part #e98880 on my 2012 Tacoma. Seems there is a brace welded to the hitch receiver, thus increasing its width. This makes the hitch pin I ordered too short for me to screw the deadbolt on.

Toyota and some Ford and Chevy OEM trailer hitches have that extra piece on the outside of the hitch and they require a different, longer locking hitch pin. Since we found out about this a few years ago we have added the note on the # e98880 product page mentioning the issue. But not to worry because there are other locks that will fit.
You can use hitch lock # e98881 which has an inner span of 3-5/8 inches and will be long enough for your Toyota hitch. I have included a link to a video review for you to check out on this lock.
