Converting Torsion Axles to a Leaf Spring Axle Set up

Question:

I have a 4000 fully loaded pontoon bunk trailer with two 2200 lb torsion axles. The roads and landings in our area are rough and often one axle bares the entire weight. We had more than a few bent and broken axles. I want to know what system might either share the load between the two axles or what’s involved in converting the two torsion axles to leaf springs of sufficient capacity to bare the brunt in and of itself.

I have a solution for you but it does involve converting your torsion axles. You will want to use the Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for Tandem Axle Trailers item # TSR7000T06. This is the easiest way to convert from a torsion axle set up to a leaf spring axle set up. You won't have to add hangers or shackles. This system works with 2-1/2" round axles and has a 7,000 lbs weight capacity. To find compatible axles you would need to measure from hub face to hub face on your current ones. If you want to keep your hubs you will need to measure the spindle to determine the inner and outer bearing size so we can match the new axles up with your current hubs.

I have attached a diagram below that will help you measure your axles.
