Best Bike Rack for a Bacchetta Carbon Aero 2.0 Recumbent Bike

Hi — We had a Bacchetta Carbon Aero 2.0 recumbent bike and a conventional upright bike on a Swagman 2-bike rack that was okay-ish, though I didnt like the fact that the metal rusted over time and that the recumbents carbon frame seemed to be in constant danger of scratching. Now weve bought a Tesla, are planning to install a retractable trailer hitch, and are wondering if Wirecutters top-rated Küat Sherpa 2.0 two-bike rack will hold the Bacchetta and the upright correctly? Any thought, please? Thank you in advance.

I have a solution for you, however the Kuat Sherpa Two-Bike Rack item # SH22G referenced in your question isn't a good option for your Bacchetta Carbon Aero 2.0 recumbent bike. This bike rack does not work with recumbent bikes. I recommend the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Recumbents Bikes item # SA4412B-R. This bike rack also fits 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers so compatibility with your Tesla won't be an issue. The carrier has an extremely light weight of 22-1/2 lbs. The Freedom bike rack can accept bikes up to 57 inches in wheel base and has the ability to carry both a recumbent and a standard bike at the same time.

You will also want the item # SA981 and item # SA3022 locks to secure your bike rack.
