The SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box # SR7018 that you referenced will fit your 2010 Nissan Xterra, providing you have either factory crossbars or aftermarket crossbars that measure less than 4 inches wide. To install the cargo box the crossbar spread should be between 23-5/8 inches and 34 inches wide.

If you need crossbars for your Xterra, I recommend the Inno system which consists of square crossbars # INB107 and the feet # INFR. I like Inno's systems because they include locks.

Please check your owners manual to verify the weight capacity limit of your roof. When calculating roof top cargo your total should include the weight of the cargo box as well which is 38 lbs.

I have an Xterra and cannot reach the roof, if you need some height I recommend the Wheel Mount Tire Step # HE4040. This simply loops on your tire and gives you enough height to fill the cargo box.
