Will Installing a Trailer Hitch At Home on a 2013 Subaru Impreza Void the Hitch or Vehicle Warranty
Question:
Do you know if the warranty will be voided if I install the hitch myself?
asked by: Susan Z
Expert Reply:
No, the warranty on the vehicle will not be voided, nor on the hitch, if you install Draw-Tite trailer hitch # DT24959 yourself.
Consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson- Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question.
This particular hitch is designed to fit a 2013 Subaru Impreza hatchback with single exhaust. It will fit Outback Sport single exhaust models. But the hitch will not fit WRX or WRX STi models.
You will need the recommended ball mount, part # 3593. For a ball use # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 19258 for a 2 inch. And for trailer wiring use # 118573.
