Parts Needed to Safely Flat Tow a 2020 Ford F-150 Behind a 2022 Fleetwood Discovery

Can you please tell me all the parts that will be needed to tow my truck safely? Also, what is the best place to get something like this installed? My vehicle is a 2020 F150 4 wheel drive. Once installed, do you have any instructions on the order of doing things inside the vehicle when I am actually towing the vehicle? Does this bypass the odometer in the truck? The motorhome we are looking at does have air brakes. It is a 2022 Fleetwood Discovery. Appreciate your feedback so much. Thank you !!!

Hi, yes, we can help. To safely flat tow your 2020 Ford F-150 behind your motorhome you will need 5 basic components along with their ancillary parts, a base plate kit, a tow bar along with safety cables, tow bar wiring for indicator lights, a supplemental braking solution and possibly a high/low adapter.

- Base Plate Kit, etrailer Invisible Base Plate, # e98961
- Tow Bar, etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar, # e94ZR (the needed safety cables are included)
- Tow Bar Wiring, Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring, # RM-15267
- Supplemental Braking, Demco Air Force One with Wireless Coachlink, # DM26VR (For a coach WITH air brakes.) Along with the Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-156-25 and the Brake-Lite Relay Kit, # RM-88400.

Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO, # DM86VR (For a coach WITHOUT air brakes.) along with Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-156-25 and the Brake-Lite Relay Kit, # RM-88400.

One last component you may need is a high/low adapter, I have linked a help article for high/low adapters below. The objective is that once your tow bar is installed, it sets at +/- 3" of level. This is to minimize excessive wear on tires and suspension parts. Please review the attached help article to inform you of what you may need to purchase.

If you choose to hire the installation and do not already have a trusted and qualified local shop, there is hyperlink on the Product pages below the listed videos "Locate installers near me". Select this link and enter your Zip Code for assistance in locating installers near you.

If the electronics are off on your towed vehicle, your odometer will most likely not account for the miles towed. As for setting up your specific vehicle once the connections are made, We always recommend that you consult your vehicle specific Owner's Manual before flat towing. The OEM is always the final authority of how their product functions. You can find this listed in your Owner's Manual under "Recreational Towing" and from the online manual available to me, this begins on page 321 and thoroughly walks through the steps. But feel free to follow-up with us for any additional questions after review. Please look for anything listed specifically to your vehicles trim package.

For further details of recommended components, please see below and note the linked product videos.
