In-Bed 7-Way Wiring Recommendation for a Camper on a 1987 Ford F-250

i bought an 87 F250, and then an old camper to fit on it. it weighs 2100 lbs dry. it has a pigtail and a 7way plug that is meant to plug in just behind the driver inside the bed. i cannot decide which outlet i should purchase, or if i should have the work done in town someplace. i am comfortable doing most wiring, but hope i can purchase a kit.

The harness you need for your 1987 Ford F-250 is the 7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector, 7' Lead # 20023. With this particular harness, it needs to be installed inside the bed as opposed to the rear of your truck. Since your truck is an older model, the wiring on your driver's side of your truck is most likely different than newer models. The harness is also a bit different than newer harnesses that are made specifically for 5th-wheel wiring as well. I went ahead and attached a video of the installation process of this connector to the bed of a 1996 F-250. The process does not differ much from the process on your 1987 model. If you are comfortable with wiring, you should have no problem with installing it yourself.
