By torsion hitch and torsion bars, I believe you are referring to a weight distribution hitch, and there is an option for one that will allow a 6 inch drop. So long as your 12,000 lb trailer's total tongue weight - the tongue weight of your fully loaded trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your truck - is no more than 1,500 lbs, you can use one of the following weight distribution hitches, depending on if you want sway control or not:
- Reese Weight Distribution Without Shank # RP66131
- Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - No Shank # RP66130
- Curt Welded Weight Distribution Shank # C17123
- 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40030
Both weight distribution hitches are for total tongue weights between 800 lbs and 1,500 lbs, and the shank will give you a maximum 8-1/4" drop.
Curt Welded Weight Distribution Shank 7" - 10 Hole Adjustment
2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter x 2-5/8" Long Shank - Chrome - 15,000 lbs
Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - No Shank - Trunnion Bar - 15K GTW, 1,500 lbs TW
Reese Weight Distribution w/out Shank - Trunnion Bar - 15,000 lbs GTW, 1,500 lbs TW
