J-Style Kayak Carrier Fitment with Thule Xsporter Pro Ladder Rack

The etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier # e98878 fit 3-1/8" wide x 1-1/2" tall crossbars while the crossbars for the Thule Xsporter Pro # TH500XTB are slightly larger at 3-1/2" wide x 1-1/2" tall so we need to look at a different kayak carrier for this application.

For an alternative J-Style rack you can use one from Malone along with the T-Slot Fit Kit # MPG8287. The J-Pro2 # MPG117MD has fixed arms while the DownLoader # MPG114MD has the folding arms like our etrailer kayak carrier kit. Both of these Malone options come with tie-downs as well as standard hardware to clamp around crossbars, but will fit the Thule crossbars via the T-Channel with the fit kit mentioned above.

We actually have the Kuat brand of kayak carriers which will fit the wider crossbars of your ladder rack.

For a standard J-Style fixed rack we have the Class 2 # C2R1B but for the folding feature you'll need the Class 4 # KU53VR instead. These Kuat racks have a sleek design and come with the larger mounting hardware to fit the ladder rack systems like what you're wanting to use.
